Banks Raise a Big Money Rate

The Federal Reserve is a group of banks. It watches how the country's money is doing. This week, it raised an interest rate. An interest rate is the cost to borrow money.

The rate is now near 4 percent. This is the first raise since 2023. High gas prices helped cause the change. Loans may cost a little more now.
