New York had rebounded impressively the previous day. The Yankees cruised to a five-to-one victory that temporarily evened the series. That triumph followed an opening loss on Friday. San Diego edged the Yankees by a score of three to two in that game. Splitting the series left both franchises with lingering questions ahead of their next matchup.
