Cargo Plane Crash Near Miami Airport Kills Five

An Amazon cargo plane crashed near a runway in Miami. This happened on Sunday. Sadly, some people died. Other people were hurt.

Rescue teams rushed to help. The mayor called it a hard day. Airport workers are looking into what went wrong.

A cargo plane operated for Amazon crashed just beyond a runway at Miami International Airport on Sunday. The crash triggered a fire that killed five people and injured five others. According to authorities, the aircraft overshot the runway before coming to a stop in flames. Firefighters arrived quickly and worked to control the blaze near the airport perimeter.

Miami-Dade's mayor described the crash as one of the most difficult days the county has faced this year. Emergency crews closed nearby roads while investigators began examining the wreckage. Officials have not yet released a cause for the crash. A full investigation into the accident is expected to take weeks or even months. Federal aviation investigators will study flight data recorders to reconstruct the plane's final moments.

Cargo planes carry packages rather than passengers, but crashes involving them still raise serious safety concerns. Investigators typically review weather conditions, mechanical performance, and pilot actions when a plane fails to stop on a runway. Findings from this investigation could lead to new safety recommendations for cargo airlines nationwide. Miami International Airport has resumed normal operations, though the runway involved in the crash remained closed for inspection. Miami International Airport is one of the busiest cargo hubs in the country, handling flights for several major shipping companies. City officials have promised residents an update once investigators complete their initial review.
